Small update on the model. UV mapping is complete. Playing with normal map settings to get best results.
High res model is Zbrush and the rest is max viewport.
Personal polyflow study. Im making sure the loops follow the muscles as much as possible to help the shapes during animation.

More than 1 year using this software and I’m still amazed with Zbrsuh, its the first tool that I actually feel I’m doing art. The technical issues are so behind the scene… the freedom for sculpting and just having fun, doodling around, its just really amazing. I highly advise it for anyone that loves art to play around with this software! (those calfs really need some work)
And the final version. Thinking on maybe doing some other characters from the comic.
Small update with shaders in mental ray. Going to work on the texture (only bump at the moment) and lighting a bit more and it should be done.
Also the presented model is in zbrush sdiv3 and has been detailed until sdiv6 (1.8 mil polys) which I will only import to Max when I’m happy with the render settings.

Update on the old guy. Will attempt a marble style old bust. Face still needs work (making him older). Right now working on hair and eyebrows.
New head, old guy with beard. Going for a more classical/statue look to it. Want to achieve a good result with just modelling.
Playing around with the female torso and making expressions to test the geometry flow. Render is straight from Zbrush.
Update on the alien! Body shape changed quite a lot, it resambles more of a lizard now, curious of what the skin color will look like. Adding scales and small detail before moving to the texture.
Might as well put here the 360 degrees render I made of the previous female model. Quite happy with the poly hair. It doesn’t work perfectly for animation but its not that far away either (originally I only planned it for certain camera angles).

New alien model, still working on the shape, this time want to do a bit of concept design and modelling at the same time. Started with a base human torso (the same for the female model) and already retopologized to fit the new shapes.
Originaly planned as a mix between rhino and cow, but starting to lean towards a fish like creature. The torso and lips haven’t been worked yet. Might go for a red skin and black/yellow eyes style of creature. I’m quite fascinated by the color pattern in fishes so it might be a good chance to try some Zbrush polypainting.
Ok, I will consider this finish and move to the next one. UVs could have been better spread allowing for much more detail and the texture work could do with some more balancing. Next one will be much better for sure!
New update. Added hair and small tweaks everywhere. Now I’ll focus on shader work and improve her expression.. she seems too worried at the moment.
Couldn’t wait! quick test render in max, just texture, no bump or specular.
Small update, added eyebrows and fixed eye sockets (they were too big). Another Zbrush viewport render. The bump map is procedural and there is no control over the specular. Going to mental ray and see if I can get better results.
Trying to improve my Zbrush skills, working on the skin/bump of a female torso.
And one more. Next week we are doing a male model, so it should chance the art quite a bit

Update on teeth. Re-working expression.
Working on expression. Open mouth feels much more expressive, starting work on teeth and gums.
Small update after a nice Christmas break.
Changed proportions on model (bigger legs, longer neck). Starting work on expression, still not happy with results.
